Visiting Bodrum by PLANE

Visitors to Bodrum actually fly into Milas Bodrum airport, about 20 miles (approx. 32 km) away and you can reach Bodrum in about 30 minutes by way of the coastal road. Local airlines flying to Milas are Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and Onur Air. Turkish Airlines has five daily direct flights from Istanbul, as well as one direct flight from Ankara, and connecting flights from other major domestic cities. There are also several charter companies arriving from Holland, Belgium, Germany and England; check with your local travel agency for information on when these are operating.

Prices are very cheap, and starting at 49 TL from Istanbul (note there are TWO airports serving Istanbul, Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen, which is quite far away from the city !).

Travel from Milas Bodrum airport to Bodrum

Car Rentals : you can hire a car at Bodrum airport from well known rental companies like Hertz, Avis and Europecar

Taxis : dominating the transport scene and offering high-priced transport to all local destinations in Bodrum or Milas. The fare into Bodrum town centre is 80 TL, for more prices & reservations check the local website of Bodrum Airport Taxi.

 

Visiting Bodrum by BUS

Buses are very easy to use and are usually comfortable, and they provide the cheapest and most comprehensive service when traveling to Bodrum, from pretty much every place in Turkey. All buses are now smoke-free (except for the driver :)) When the bus makes a stop at a road restaurant, you will have to pay a small fee to make use of the rest room, which are usually clean. The major bus companies serving Bodrum are these :

Another smaller company Aydin Turizm (phone +90 252/316-3250) runs a bus service along the Mediterranean coast from Bodrum to Ortaca, Dalyan, Dalaman, Fethiye, Olüdeniz, and Kas.

 

Visiting Bodrum by FERRY

Visitors traveling between Greece and Turkey by ferry have the option of purchasing a single one-way ticket, a same-day round-trip ticket, or a round-trip ticket with an open return date. Prices of these tickets vary (or not) according to your travel choice. For tickets purchased in Turkey, local port taxes are included in the price; for tickets purchased in Greece, port taxes are around 20 TL extra. There is no visa required for your entry into Greece or for short time excursions from Turkey with a duration under 3 months. If you don’t have it, you will also have to pay the 27 TL for an entry visa. Bodrum has two ferry providers : the Bodrum Ferryboat Association and Bodrum Express Lines, which operates hydrofoils. Both offices are located near The Castle of St. Peter.

Ferry companies :

Bodrum Express Lines runs a daily ferryboat service to the Greek island of Kos (duration 15 minutes, one-way or same-day-return ticket price 28 euro) from Bodrum and Turgutreis. Hydrofoil service to Rhodes is on Friday (duration 2 hr. 10 min., one-way or same-day-return ticket price 60 euro). Bodrum Express Lines also runs hydrofoils between Bodrum and Marmaris departing onThursday and Sunday. These hydrofoils arrive in the beautiful town of Gelibolu (where they will complete the journey for you with a bus to Marmaris). Total travel time is 1 hour 50 minutes (20 minutes bus); the trip costs 30 Euros. This company also provides maritime transport services with ferry-boats and fast hydrofoils between Bodrum and Datca, Sedir (Cleopatra) Island and Dalyan (Caunos). The Bodrum Ferryboat Association runs a hydrofoil service to Kos : duration 20 minutes, one-way or same-day-return ticket price 35 euro. By ferry the same journey takes 1 hour, and a one-way or same-day-return ticket price is 25 euro. Bodrum Ferryboat Association also runs passenger and car ferry services to Datça (2 hours) starting at 20 TL with a bus transfer from Korman landing to Datça town.
